Very Good
Location
The Peninsula Resort & Spa is located in the heart of the island and is an ideal starting point for road-trips. The hotel is situated in a spectacular and absolutely stunning location with beautiful scenery and built on the rock overlooking the sea. Although access is a bit hard and the road to the hotel is narrow, guests can enjoy three small beaches within walking distance with a bigger beach only a 20-minute walk away. Bear in mind that there are no buses or trains that stop at the hotel and the hotel is geared mainly towards French and German guests. Nevertheless, the location of the property is absolutely amazing with private cement beaches, crystal-clear water and beautiful views from almost all sides. Guests can rent a boat at the beach platform and enjoy various experiences around each different place, pool or beach each day. The location of the hotel makes it a good starting point for other visits on the island and it's only a short walk to the beautiful beaches nearby. The hotel offers a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Aegean Sea and some guests even describe it as a piece of paradise. There are also beautiful pools and a beachfront view for guests to enjoy. The only downside that some guests mentioned was the access, which isn't brilliant and that the location is a bit far from the city center. However, others found the location well-located, in a quiet and beautiful area and some even highlight the possibility of taking a bus to Heraklion from directly in front of the hotel. Nevertheless, for those looking for a nourishing getaway in a beautiful and unique location, the Peninsula Resort & Spa has it all.

Breakfast
The breakfast at Peninsula Resort & Spa is a delicious start to the day with a lot of variety and local flavors offered daily. Guests have praised the great selection, although some caution that eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel for several days in a row may not leave you feeling great. However, overall the food service is really good with a wide range of local and international specialties. The buffet is described as perfect, gargantuan and deliciously varied with staff replenishing it quickly. There are plenty of options to cover any need with traditional Greek and continental dishes on offer. The quality of the dishes is excellent, as is the view and the all-inclusive package is good value for money. However, some guests note a need for more coffee machines or separate sweet and savory areas in the buffet. Despite these minor critiques, the majority of guest reviews describe the breakfast at the Peninsula Resort & Spa as fantastic and extraordinary.

Dinner
The Peninsula Resort & Spa is a great choice for those looking for a hotel with a variety of food options. Guests praised the buffet for its large selection and great food with regional specialties and fresh pizzas. Seafood night was a standout, although it was only offered on a weekday. However, some guests found inconsistency in the labeling and seasoning of dishes and a few complained about the a la carte restaurant’s limited opening hours. The staff were praised for their professionalism and friendliness, although some guests found the dining hall to be large and impersonal. Overall, the food service received positive reviews with a fantastic variety each night and excellent quality.

Rooms
The rooms at Peninsula Resort & Spa are a highlight for many guests with many commenting on their cleanliness and spaciousness. The sea views from the balconies are particularly loved. Guests also appreciate the modern design and well-maintained condition of the rooms. Some rooms come with private pools. However, a few guests found the bathrooms to be small and poorly ventilated. Some rooms lacked natural light or had sparse furniture. Nonetheless, the beds were generally comfortable. Housekeeping consistently received high praise for their thoroughness. Despite a few minor complaints, the rooms generally met or exceeded guests' expectations.

Beds
The Peninsula Resort & Spa offers guests a comfortable and clean stay with super friendly staff. Guests have particularly enjoyed the beds, which are described as comfortable and spacious with wood frames and comfortable pillows. Some guests have not enjoyed the concrete bed frames, finding them uncomfortable or even scary and some have found the mattresses to be too hard. However, overall guests agree that the rooms are clean and comfortable with a great view of the bay. The reception and restaurant staff are also described as very friendly.

Cleanliness
If you're looking for a clean and well-maintained hotel, Peninsula Resort & Spa is the perfect choice for you! Guests rave about the exceptional cleanliness of the hotel, from the rooms to the pool and beach areas. The staff are described as friendly and always ensuring everything is tidy. Though some guests had small issues with the cleanliness in areas like the restrooms near the pools, the majority of guests were impressed with the high standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel. Whether you're in a Junior Suite or a standard room, rest assured that everything will be clean and comfortable. Plus, the hotel is described as beautifully maintained and modern, making for a truly luxurious stay!

Staff
This luxurious resort is highly praised for its exceptional staff. From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed with open arms and made to feel right at home. The personnel are described as very welcoming, attentive, friendly and accommodating, always going above and beyond to ensure your satisfaction. Whether you're interacting with reception staff, catering staff or the pool bar staff, you will be treated with the utmost kindness and professionalism. Some standout employees are mentioned by name, such as Bobby and Anna, who always greet guests with a smile and consistently provide great service. Other reviews speak to the helpfulness and availability of the staff with many raving about their wonderful experiences with the resort's employees. While there may be some variance in service with certain departments, overall, guests agree that the staff at Peninsula Resort & Spa are a true gem and one of the many reasons that make this hotel stand out from the rest.

Wi-Fi
When it comes to the wifi at Peninsula Resort & Spa, guest reviews are mixed. Some experienced issues with connectivity, particularly during peak hours, while others found the speed adequate for streaming video. There were some complaints of spotty coverage with the worst being at the private beach. Some guests felt the wifi was very poor overall or non-existent in certain areas. On a positive note, some guests found that the wifi improved over time or worked better during the second week of their stay. If reliable wifi is a priority for your stay, it may be best to look into alternative options.

Pool
Peninsula Resort & Spa offers a variety of pool options for guests, including indoor and outdoor pools, heated pools, private pools and children's pools with water slides. Some guests enjoyed the sea water and fresh water options, while others wished for more shallow areas for small children. Despite some complaints about lacking shower and changing room facilities, many guests found the pools to be clean and enjoyable with plenty of sun beds available. The resort also offers a range of other facilities and activities, such as beaches, sport options and pool bars. Overall, guests appreciated the multiple pool options and resort facilities available at Peninsula Resort & Spa.

Beach
The Peninsula Resort & Spa boasts access to several beautiful beaches, including a private cement beach with crystal clear water. There are three small beaches within walking distance and a bigger beach only 20 minutes away on foot. The adjacent Mononaftis Beach is rocky but provides a gradual entrance into the sea. The hotel also has a sea platform and two small beaches and there are two public stony beaches nearby. While some guests found the beach rocky and hard to traverse with a baby stroller, others enjoyed the superb access to water sports and stunning views. Keep in mind that some beaches require a fee and are not part of the hotel facilities. Overall, the hotel's proximity to the sea and its surrounding beaches make it a dream location for beach lovers.

Family
The Peninsula Resort & Spa is a great quality family resort that provides an ideal room size for families of 3-4. The hotel has a children's pool and offers water sports that can be booked through the hotel. However, the activities offered seemed to be geared mainly to French and German guests and the entertainment is focused on younger children. The club enfants seems to be outdated and less welcoming. The children's playground, mini-club and children's pool require updating and more equipment. The Kinderpool is located outside of the facility and the kid's section is far from the other pools, which is disappointing. The resort can be a great place for complete relaxation with a young family for a few days. However, families with younger children under 8 years may not find the hotel suitable for their needs. Nevertheless, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They also offer a great mix of child-friendly activities and cater to couples and adults as well. Lastly, the hotel provides a conducive environment for families to enjoy their stay and guests can have a great time with water activities and sports.

4 Star
The Peninsula Resort & Spa is a very clean and well-maintained four-star hotel, but opinions on its rating are divided. Some guests feel it's really a 4* resort, while others were disappointed and felt it was only a 3-star. Despite its isolated location, the all-inclusive rates are decent value and the hotel generally provides good value for money. Some guests did note that the general impression of the hotel did not match up to their expectations of a 4-star establishment. The rooms in particular were considered by several reviewers to be of lower quality than a 4+ star hotel. However, some guests were impressed with the excellent rapport qualité prix and overall, the hotel was seen as moyen, but okay for a 4*.

Pool Water Slide
The pool with water slide at Peninsula Resort & Spa seems to be a popular feature among guests. One reviewer called the slides "petits toboggans," while another mentioned a "Wasserrutsche." The pool is chilly, according to one comment, but that didn't stop guests from enjoying the water slide. The resort also boasts a separate kid's pool with a slide for the little ones. "Kinderpool mit Rutschen" was how one reviewer described it. Another guest was pleased that there were "zwei Rutschen und fertig" (two slides and that's it) at the pool. Overall, the pool water slide received positive feedback from guests who left comments.

Children's Pool
If you're traveling with children, Peninsula Resort & Spa has you covered with its spacious and fun kid's pool area. The pool features small slides that will keep your little ones entertained for hours. While some guests noted that the pool was a bit chilly, others raved about its refreshing temperature on hot days. Keep in mind that the kid's pool is located outside of the main resort area, adding to the feeling of a private and secure space for the little ones to play. Overall, guests with kids loved the convenience and entertainment provided by the children's pool.

Private Pool
The Peninsula Resort & Spa is a hotel that offers guests the option to upgrade their rooms to include a private pool. Several guests who have stayed at the hotel have highly praised this feature in their reviews. They mention that the rooms with private pools are luxurious and beautiful. One guest was even upgraded to a room with a private pool for two out of the five nights they stayed. However, availability became an issue and they agreed to move back to their originally booked room. Despite this, the guest was pleased with their experience. Based on these reviews, it seems that the private pools at the Peninsula Resort & Spa are definitely worth considering for your stay.

Outdoor Pool
The Peninsula Resort & Spa offers an impressive selection of pools, catering to every guest's needs. From a big outdoor saltwater pool (closed in October) to a fresh water pool, heated pool, children's pool and even a private pool, the resort has it all. There's even a pool water slide for added entertainment. Guests have praised the pools for being nice, clean and wonderfully appealing. In addition to the main pool, there are two saltwater pools and a smaller indoor pool located in a separate building at the spa. For families traveling with children, there's a special kid's pool with a slide.
