Overall, it seems that the rooms at Durley Dean vary in quality and standard, so guests should inquire about specific room types and their features before booking.

Beds
Durley Dean is a hotel with mixed reviews regarding their beds. Some guests praised the hotel for providing extremely comfortable beds with good quality pillows. Others, however, expressed their dissatisfaction with the bed's size or level of comfort. Some guests reported finding dog hair on their beds, which is certainly a concern for those with allergies. Families traveling with children have also reported mixed experiences with one guest highlighting that a child's bed was advertised as a bunk bed, but was not and another reporting that the fifth fold-out bed in a family room was nearly unusable. Overall, guests' experiences with the beds at Durley Dean were mixed, but many found them comfortable and enjoyable.

Cleanliness
Guests who have stayed at the Durley Dean hotel have shared mixed opinions about its cleanliness. While many praised the hotel's lovely facilities and exceptional cleanliness, a few highlighted concerns such as mould in the curtains and bathroom, dusty carpets, bed bugs and stained pillows. However, most guests found their rooms clean, well-decorated and comfortable with lots of plug sockets and USB ports. Although some areas like the bathroom, toilets off the bar and the cleaners' cupboard needed improvement, the general building was well looked after. The spa area was lovely and the modern rooms were clean with many modern amenities. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness was suitable for most, but improvements in some areas were necessary.

Visitors have praised the efficient, friendly and accommodating nature of the team with many saying that they genuinely wanted to help. The reception staff are described as pleasant and efficient, although a few guests found one particular receptionist not to be friendly. The breakfast was lovely with polite and helpful staff, while the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring nearby tourist areas. Overall, guests find it to be a great hotel with great staff and facilities, although there have been isolated incidents of unhelpful or patronizing staff.

Spa
Reviews of the Durley Dean Hotel's spa are mixed. Some guests praise the spa for its excellent facilities, including a heated swimming pool, sauna and massages from polite and skilled staff members like Alina. Others, however, express disappointment at the spa's small size and outdated features, such as the removal of the roof of the toilet in the female changing room which makes it very cold. A number of guests mention that they were either upgraded to a better room or disappointed to find that the entire spa was closed for maintenance during their stay. Despite some concerns, guests generally note that the leisure facilities are well-maintained and clean.

Additionally, the ease of access to the beach is a huge plus, only taking about 4-5 minutes to walk downhill. Whether you want to soak up the sun or explore the local attractions, Durley Dean offers a convenient and enjoyable stay for your beach holiday.

Parking
Guests of Durley Dean have expressed their frustration with the hotel's parking situation. While there is a car park available, the limited space and high charge of £15 every 24 hours for parking has left many feeling dissatisfied. Some guests even had to park on side streets, away from the hotel, due to the small size of the car park and the difficulty in finding spaces. Furthermore, those with blue badges were unable to use the car park, adding to the expense of their stay. Many felt that the expense of the car park was excessive, especially given the difficulty in finding alternative parking nearby. In some cases, guests reported that the hotel did not state the parking charge of £15 per night at the time of booking. Overall, the parking arrangements at Durley Dean left much to be desired with guests hoping for a better solution in the future.

Family
Durley Dean is a typical seaside hotel with a variety of rooms available for families. The hotel offers a great family breakfast and the swimming pool and gym are lovely additions for the kids. Unfortunately, the pool can become very crowded at peak times. The family rooms themselves are a good size and some are even able to accommodate up to a 5 person family. However, some guests have noted issues with the bedding arrangements not being as expected with some receiving a double with 2 singles instead of bunk beds as they booked. A few guests have also experienced maintenance issues such as water dripping down a bedroom wall, which led to colds for their children. Guests with pets will be pleased to know that the hotel does offer a room to sit with your dog. While some guests have had great experiences at Durley Dean with their families, a few others have found the hotel not to be very family-friendly, especially when catering for weddings which can take over the hotel. One family noted that being put on the 1st floor with two young children wasn't great due to noise from a party downstairs. Finally, some guests have had issues with not enough towels being provided in their family rooms. Overall, Durley Dean is a decent option for families looking for a seaside stay, but guests may want to be aware of potential issues when it comes to bedding arrangements and maintenance, as well as the potential for crowded pool areas and noise from events.
