Location
St Mellion Estate is nestled in a truly gorgeous location with amazing views and stunning surroundings. The hotel is ideal for those with a car as it is conveniently located for exploring Devon and Cornwall; however, it may be too remote for public transport or taxis. The complex offers easy access to facilities, including an exceptional golf course, but signs to get around the place can be confusing. The venue is a beautiful wedding location and the grounds are well kept and peaceful. The hotel is clean and comfortable with lovely rooms overlooking the golf course. Overall, St Mellion Estate is a great location for exploring southern England, but a car is needed to enjoy the beautiful and handy location to the fullest.

Breakfast
Reviews of the breakfast at St Mellion Estate vary greatly with some guests saying it was very good with lovely and tasty options, while others found it overcooked, dire or poor. The buffet-style breakfast had plenty of options, including full English and Continental and was generally well-managed and replenished. However, some guests were disappointed with the limited menu in the restaurants and the offerings of the breakfast buffet for the price with one comparing the taste to leather. While some guests had issues with cold breakfasts or the lack of variety, most found the breakfast good or very good with some even raving about the exceptional staff and varied choice of meals.

Dinner
Guests had mixed experiences with dinner at St Mellion Estate. Some praised the food, calling it exceptional and kudos to the chef and kitchen staff. The An Boesti restaurant was praised for its swift service and fantastic choice and taste. However, there were some disappointments as well. One night, a large golf group had booked the restaurant, leaving guests to eat in the café and bar. Some described the food as basic with limited menus and items not available. Delays and slow service were also mentioned with one guest even waiting 1.5 hours for lunch in the Golf Bar. While some felt the price of the food was reasonable, others thought it was overpriced and terrible value for money. Overall, while there were some fantastic dinners to be had, guests felt there could be more variety, better service and improved value for money.

Rooms
St Mellion Estate offers a range of comfortable and spacious rooms, many of which have been recently refurbished to a high standard. The rooms are generally very clean and well presented with comfortable beds and lovely views in some cases. However, a few guests have mentioned that some of the rooms are dated with tired decor and furnishings that are in need of upgrade. Additionally, room maintenance and cleanliness could be improved in some cases with occasional dust and stains noticed by guests. Nonetheless, those who stayed in recently refurbished rooms or the lodges were very happy with the quality and spaciousness of their accommodation. Overall, St Mellion Estate is a nice venue with a good location and comfortable rooms that are generally clean, spacious and well-equipped.

Beds
Guests of St Mellion Estate have mixed opinions on the comfort of the beds. While some praise the comfy and spacious beds, others find them uncomfortable with some complaining about the firmness of the pillows. A few guests had issues with the bed setup with some twin beds being pushed together to create a king bed, but kept separating while sleeping. However, the majority of guests seemed to have enjoyed their sleep on the comfortable beds.

Cleanliness
St Mellion Estate offers top-notch facilities in a lovely, peaceful setting. Guests can enjoy a spotless gym and pool area, as well as well-maintained grass and flowered areas. The bedrooms and bathrooms are newly done up and very clean with some guests noting they were spacious and modern. There were a few isolated incidents of dirt and dust or unclean cups and bins, but overall the rooms and property were clean and well-presented. The staff are great and keep the hotel well-run, clean and efficient. The lodges, in particular, were praised for their spaciousness and cleanliness. The only real negative feedback was from a few guests who found the cleanliness of their room lacking. Nonetheless, for the most part, reviewers commented positively on the cleanliness of St Mellion Estate.

Staff
St. Mellion Estate is a beautiful location with a welcoming atmosphere, made even better by the staff. The majority of guests commented on the friendly and helpful demeanor of the staff with some even mentioning specific individuals who went above and beyond to make their stay enjoyable. However, some reviewers mentioned a few instances of poor service and rude behavior from certain staff members. But overall, the staff in the bar, restaurant, reception, golf shop and housekeeping received high praise from guests who found them to be attentive, efficient and welcoming. Additionally, guests appreciated the clean rooms and fantastic location of the hotel.

Spa
St Mellion Estate offers a range of leisure facilities including a spa, pool, gym and golf course. While some guests were disappointed that spa treatments were not available or that the spa was fully booked, others raved about the amazing facilities and the warm water in the pool. The leisure facilities were overall very good with a clean and inviting small pool, sauna and jacuzzi. A few guests noted that the steam room and whirlpool were out of use during their stay. Despite some negative remarks about spa services being poorly managed or staff being rude, many guests had an enjoyable experience with some even receiving a very nice massage. Overall, the hotel and spa facilities were described as a perfect place for a mini break or a night away, offering all the expected facilities of a 5-star spa.

Gym
The gym and pool facilities at St Mellion Estate have received glowing reviews from guests. They are fully equipped, clean and well-maintained with lovely peaceful surroundings. The gym boasts lovely views overlooking the golf course and sunrises and guests have praised the weight area as excellent - a rare occurrence for hotels. The spa facilities have also received high praise with one guest calling them the best they have ever found at a hotel. However, one slight downside is that almost all the lockers in the gym have been smashed open. Overall, guests can expect good facilities and an outstanding gym experience during their stay at St Mellion Estate.

Pool
Guests have mixed reviews about the pool facilities at St Mellion Estate. Some describe the pool as amazing, fantastic and lovely, while others were disappointed by the pool area and changing rooms. The size of the pool was appreciated by many with a separate fun pool for kids, a 25-meter pool and a lane pool. However, some guests expressed discomfort due to the temperature of the pool and the need to walk to the changing rooms in cold corridors. Some said that the pool locker rooms were dated and scruffy, while others said they were immaculate with lockers and towels provided. The swimming pool is great for children, according to some guests with a warm kid's pool and a big pool with a hot tub and sauna. Overall, guests found the leisure facilities to be inviting and enjoyable, including the gym and pool, but some said the pool area could do with a refurbishment due to holes in the ceiling.

Parking
St Mellion Estate offers free and quiet parking in a good location, making it a great choice for those with a car. However, there are no charging facilities for electric cars. Guests staying in the cottages have their own parking space just outside. Unfortunately, some non-disabled golfers were seen using the disabled parking spots. It is worth noting that payment for everything is required upfront. While parking is easy, guests have reported difficulty in getting a taxi. Overall, guests have had no issues with parking and found it to be very convenient.

Family
St Mellion Estate appears to be a good choice for families traveling with babies as the hotel is super friendly towards them. The lodges offer fabulous accommodations that are spacious enough to meet the needs of the family. However, some guests noted that there wasn't a lot for kids to do on the premises, which may be something to bear in mind when visiting the area. The swimming pool was popular with kids, though some visitors mentioned that it can get crowded, especially during school parties. On the other hand, guests were impressed with the excellent self-catering facilities and there was nothing negative to say about the lodges. It's worth noting that walking through the corridors can be a bit like a hospital and rooms on the bottom floor are close together. Overall, St Mellion Estate seems like the perfect place for families who prioritize spacious accommodations with self-catering facilities over activities for kids.

Golf
St Mellion Estate is the perfect destination for golf enthusiasts looking for a great value golf break. With two fantastic golf courses in excellent condition, surrounded by stunning views, it's easy to see why it's one of the best golf courses in Europe. The Nicklaus golf course even remained in playable condition after heavy rainfall the whole day. If you love the challenge of golf courses, you'll enjoy the choice of two great options, both offered at a reduced rate for those staying. Golf booking system and discount rates are excellent and the golf staff are super friendly and helpful. Treat yourself to a lovely spacious room overlooking the golf course for a truly amazing experience. However, if golf is not your thing, there's not much else to do as the resort is surrounded by lots of hills and some guests complain of noisy golfing groups during breakfast or outdated, stale premises. Nonetheless, highly recommended for golf lovers seeking an outstanding experience.

4 Star
St Mellion Estate has a really lovely venue set in beautiful grounds, but unfortunately it seems that some irritating things are inconsistent with its supposed four star rating. Multiple guests have mentioned that the rooms are basic and outdated, certainly not what you would expect from a 4 star resort. Some have even mentioned that their signature room was not up to par. The food in the restaurant has also been commented on with some guests stating that it was definitely not up to 4 star standards, both in terms of quality and service. However, there were also guests who had nothing to report and thought that all was good, so experiences may vary. On the whole, while St Mellion Estate has potential, improvements need to be made to meet the expectations of a 4 star rating.
