LUX* allocates an amount from the price of each guest night it sells to the Tread Lightly Fund. This fund is used to enhance its green credentials by investing in a significant internal carbon-reduction strategy, focused on projects such as solar-power, LED lighting replacement, wind turbines and the recycling of grey water for cleaning of public spaces and irrigation.

For example, some hotels are now operating sea-water desalination plants, and successfully recycling waste waters, plastics, paper, cardboard and cooking oil (for bio fuel). A planting scheme for trees and vegetation has also been initiated to compensate for unavoidable carbon emissions, along with programmes of constant care for beaches and the natural areas surrounding the properties.

LUX* house water – still Earth and sparkling Dance - is locally sourced, natural and highly purified.

Aparthotel Taking Steps Towards Sustainability
Zoku Amsterdam takes its role in the sustainability movement very seriously, creating environmentally friendly urban living solutions. The combination of home-office hybrid spaces is ingeniously designed, demonstrating a keen interest in reducing environmental impact and fostering human connections. Their buildings have been designed with meticulous attention to detail to ensure minimal space usage, ultimately leading to a reduced carbon footprint. Indeed, Zoku Amsterdam isn't claiming perfection, but it is determined to drive change for the betterment of the planet.

When it comes to their philosophy on sustainability, Zoku Amsterdam takes the view that there is simply no alternative planet to live on. Recognizing the challenge of balancing urban growth with sustainability, they acknowledge that conventional office spaces, often under-utilized, result in substantial carbon emissions. By leveraging technology and innovative working conditions, Zoku optimizes the use of space, envisioning each space as a multifaceted ecosystem. The implementation of smart solutions is apparent throughout their accommodations - from energy-saving LED lights, 24V systems, and motion sensors to heat recovery ventilation and intelligent building management systems. Zoku's sustainable practices even extend to the rooftops, which are adorned with moss sedum to help cool the buildings, absorb pollution, and catch rainwater. These practices all culminate in an eco-friendly environment that maximizes functionality, productivity, and connection while conserving resources, an embodiment of sustainability at its finest.

Campground Taking Steps Towards Sustainability
The Alpencamp Kärnten sets the standard for eco-friendly practices in hospitality, boasting an impressive array of certifications such as the Platinum LEED Certification, EU Ecolabel, and Klimabündisbetrieb. The structure, made from sustainable materials, capitalizes on natural light and air flow, reducing the need for artificial heating, lighting, and air conditioning. This commitment to environmental efficiency extends to features such as a green roof, rainwater collection systems, triple-glazed windows, and low-flush toilets.

The property also shows an unwavering commitment to waste management, environmental education, and energy efficiency. Waste is separated into at least three categories with organic waste composted, and wastewater treated for reuse. Every staff member receives training on the environmental policies, and the property uses LED lighting and automatic power systems to reduce energy usage. Additional amenities including bicycles for guests and electric car charging stations are provided, and the on-site restaurant prioritizes locally sourced ingredients and offers a vegetarian menu. By staying at Alpencamp Kärnten, guests are not only choosing a luxurious experience but also participating in a proactive effort to protect and sustain the environment.
