Location

Nestled in the heart of Lovćen National Park, Hotel Monte Rosa is cherished for its exceptional location that provides guests with an immersive experience of Montenegro's stunning natural beauty. Visitors consistently highlight the serene and picturesque surroundings, with the hotel positioned conveniently near the base of Mount Lovćen and the Njegoš Mausoleum, which offers breathtaking views from select rooms. Its location is perfect for hiking enthusiasts, offering direct access to numerous trails, making it an excellent starting point for outdoor adventures. The tranquil atmosphere contrasts sharply with the bustling areas of Budva and Kotor, allowing guests to enjoy a peaceful retreat within the lush mountains and expansive forests. Alongside the natural allure, the hotel is noted for its warm and friendly staff, contributing to an overall delightful stay. Whether for hiking, sightseeing, or simply relaxation, Hotel Monte Rosa serves as an ideal escape into nature, providing a unique blend of comfort and scenic beauty.

Breakfast

Hotel Monte Rosa's breakfast offerings have garnered mixed reviews from guests, with a clear divide between those who found the experience delightful and those who were left wanting more. On the positive side, many guests lauded the breakfast for its variety and inclusion of regional items, with some appreciating the buffet format that allows for a decent selection. Words like excellent, delicious, and hearty frequently recur, underscoring the satisfactory and flavorful meals that some experienced. The presence of local delicacies such as cured meats and cheese specialties further enhances the breakfast's appeal for those interested in regional cuisine. Unfortunately, not every guest shared this sentiment. Several reviews noted the limited choices available, with some describing the offerings as sparse or lacking in freshness, particularly regarding fruits and juices. A few guests explicitly commented on the quality of certain items, mentioning overcooked pastries or mediocre options that did not meet expectations for the area. The buffet presentation occasionally received criticism, with reports of stains and cleanliness issues detracting from the overall experience. Despite these drawbacks, the breakfast's inclusion in the price is a point of convenience appreciated by travelers, and its availability in both buffet and menu formats caters to different preferences. With some improvements, particularly in variety and quality control, Hotel Monte Rosa could elevate its breakfast service to consistently match the tastes and preferences of its diverse guests.

Dinner

Hotel Monte Rosa offers a dining experience characterized by a blend of quality, affordability, and variety. Guests consistently praised the restaurant for its exceptional dinner service and comfortable dining facilities. Many reviews highlighted the delicious and hearty meals featuring home-grown ingredients and specialties like cured meats and cheese from local farmers. The affordability of the meals, coupled with generous portion sizes, was frequently appreciated, making dining at the restaurant both satisfying and value for money. While the menu predominantly features meat options, there is a reasonable amount of food choice available, catering to varied palates. For those seeking a more traditional and rustic dining experience, the homemade village quality of some dishes, such as the goulash, was well-received, although desserts might be best avoided according to some reviews. Despite the overall positive feedback, experiences were occasionally mixed, with some diners finding certain dishes less appealing or service hiccups like forgotten orders. Nonetheless, the convenience of having an on-site restaurant in a somewhat remote location added to the guests' positive experience, making Hotel Monte Rosa's dining offerings a commendable aspect of the stay.

Rooms

Hotel Monte Rosa offers guests a serene escape in the mountains, featuring spacious and comfortable rooms that are highly regarded for their cleanliness and tranquility. Many rooms delight guests with their ample size, providing comfort through cozy beds and an abundance of natural light. The well-equipped accommodations often come with kitchenettes or full kitchens, making them ideal for longer stays or those seeking self-sufficiency. Several rooms boast balconies with stunning views of the surrounding mountain scenery, enhancing the serene ambiance of the hotel. The style of decor may feel a bit outdated to some, yet it does not detract from the overall comfort and functionality of the rooms. Guests frequently praise the spaciousness and thoughtful layout, which includes features like separate dining areas in larger suites. The peaceful environment of the hotel, nestled in nature, ensures a restful stay despite any minor issues such as thin walls or occasional outside noise. Overall, Hotel Monte Rosa's rooms offer a pleasant combination of comfort, space, and well-maintained amenities, making it a desirable choice for visitors who prioritize a quiet and idyllic mountain getaway.

Beds

Upon visiting Hotel Monte Rosa, travelers consistently highlight the comfort of the beds as a noteworthy feature. Guests frequently describe the bedding as very comfortable, and many find the mattresses to be quite agreeable. There are several mentions of large and comfortable beds, which are often equipped with high-quality cotton sheets. However, experiences vary, with some visitors encountering softer or perhaps overly soft mattresses that might not suit everyone’s preference. There are occasional mixed impressions, such as the bed being comfortable yet creaky, and a few travelers expressed dissatisfaction with having to make the beds themselves, noting that the blankets and their cases were not assembled. Additionally, there are sporadic reports of issues like beds being too firm, low, or connected in a less-than-ideal configuration, along with some challenges in maintaining warmth at night and instances of wet bedding. Overall, while there are a few areas needing improvement, most guests leave with positive impressions of their sleeping arrangements, enjoying restful nights on comfortable mattresses at Hotel Monte Rosa.

Cleanliness

Hotel Monte Rosa appears to have mixed reviews concerning its cleanliness. While many guests appreciated the overall cleanliness of their rooms and praised the spaciousness and comfort of the accommodations, there were significant concerns noted in various areas of the hotel. Common complaints included stained carpets, uninviting pool areas, and issues with cleanliness in the gym and spa. Some guests found mold in the bathrooms, dust, and residual toiletries from previous occupants. Additionally, the hotel's overall dated appearance was often noted, with some suggesting a need for a refresh to enhance cleanliness standards. The hotel is generally well-regarded for being tidy, and it benefits from attentive staff and a pleasant location. However, there were observations of cleanliness issues, such as stained bed linens, dirty dishes at breakfast, and odors in communal areas, compromising the otherwise clean environment. Despite the building's well-maintained and clean state, certain maintenance issues persist, impacting the guest experience. Overall, the cleanliness is deemed acceptable by some, while others believe it falls short, suggesting room for improvement in maintaining higher hygiene standards throughout the property.

Wi-Fi

Hotel Monte Rosa offers a Wi-Fi experience that varies across different areas of the property. Guests have noted that the Wi-Fi signal is strong and adequate in some parts, providing a good connection for general browsing and communication. However, the experience isn't consistent, as other guests have reported issues such as weak and unreliable connections, slow internet speeds, and even complete outages. The Wi-Fi performance appears to fluctuate, with some guests being satisfied with a good signal in certain areas, while others encounter difficulties. Overall, the hotel's Wi-Fi service might meet basic needs, but it can leave some guests looking for more reliability and speed.

Spa

Hotel Monte Rosa offers a variety of amenities in its spa area, including a sauna, jacuzzi, indoor pool, and gym. Some guests appreciate the ability to privatize the sauna and jacuzzi without additional charges, offering an exclusive experience for a reasonable fee. The option to book these features is seen as a significant plus among visitors. However, reviews indicate that the spa area has inconsistencies in terms of functionality and ambiance. While the sauna is generally praised, its usability can be limited, with guests reporting issues such as being unable to lie down after using it or having it turned off. The jacuzzi has mixed reviews, with some guests noting high standards and others reporting cleanliness issues or non-operational instances during their stay. Ambient conditions in the spa area also vary, with descriptions of the space being cold, gloomy, or lacking music which detracts from the overall experience. Furthermore, there have been instances when the spa and pool area were not open, leaving some guests unable to access these facilities despite having paid for them. Overall, while the spa facilities offer a range of experiences that have potential for relaxation and enjoyment, guests have encountered challenges that affect the quality and accessibility of the services.

Pool

Hotel Monte Rosa offers an indoor pool that garners mixed reviews, largely due to its accessibility and temperature. Situated in a scenic, quiet mountain location, the pool area offers stunning views, which many guests found to be a delightful bonus, especially after long hikes. Some visitors appreciated the presence of additional amenities like a sauna and jacuzzi, as well as a solarium equipped with comfortable sun loungers. However, there are notable concerns regarding the functionality and temperature of the pool. Guests frequently mentioned that the pool is unheated, which can detract from the experience, and several noted its unavailability during their stay, particularly in the winter months. There is also feedback about the surrounding deck area appearing rundown and the water’s cleanliness not always up to standards. Despite these issues, the presence of an indoor pool, along with welcoming staff, contributes positively to the hotel experience, especially when the pool is open and functional. The hotel's peaceful setting and other available amenities make it a desirable spot for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Parking

Hotel Monte Rosa offers a convenient parking experience for its guests, as highlighted by numerous positive reviews. Visitors appreciate the availability of free parking, which adds significant value to their stay. The hotel features ample parking options both in front and on the side of the building, ensuring that guests generally don't face issues finding a spot. Despite the hotel’s sizable capacity, parking is efficiently managed, making it largely hassle-free. Overall, the accessibility of parking at Hotel Monte Rosa enhances the convenience and ease of staying at the property.

Family

The hotel's outdoor area is perfectly suited for playful adventures, complemented by a well-maintained lawn with additional play facilities. The indoor children's playground features an exciting labyrinth, serving as a haven for kids seeking amusement. A dedicated playroom ensures that children have a space to enjoy themselves, even during the quieter moments. For those looking to explore the scenic outdoors, Hotel Monte Rosa provides sled rentals, adding an extra touch of adventurous delight for families during their stay. An accessible trampoline further enhances the outdoor play options, providing hours of fun for energetic youngsters. Accommodations at the hotel cater thoughtfully to family needs, with options like apartment-style rooms available at no extra cost. Families also benefit from baby bed availability, ensuring a comfortable sleep environment for the little ones. The overall ambiance is one of tranquility, allowing parents to unwind while children engage in play. While the facilities generally meet families' needs, there are some minor shortcomings, such as a limited availability of kitchen utensils including small pots, a turk, and mugs. Additionally, the hotel staff is attentive and responsive, as demonstrated by their prompt upgrade to a family room when a mix-up occurred with room arrangements. Overall, Hotel Monte Rosa provides a welcoming and engaging environment for families seeking both relaxation and active outdoor experiences.

4 Star

Hotel Monte Rosa, despite its four-star advertisement, seems to fall short of meeting guests' expectations based on multiple reviews. The hotel's location receives positive notes, suggesting a favorable setting for visitors. However, the facilities and services offered leave much to be desired. Guests have pointed out issues with overall maintenance and a lack of attention to detail, which detracts from the hotel's advertised status. Cleanliness concerns, such as unclean sheets and the presence of insects, have been frequently mentioned, indicating a lapse in basic hygiene standards. Additionally, the breakfast experience has been notably criticized, both for its limited variety and lapses in food safety, overshadowing what should have been a highlight of the stay. While the hotel's potential is acknowledged, reviews consistently suggest it needs significant improvements in accommodation and guest service to align with its claimed four-star rating.
