Nestled in a historic building with beautiful countryside views, the Royal Hotel by Greene King Inns offers hearty hospitality and convenience with its location close to the town center. Visitors will find a welcoming and efficient staff, who ensure cleanliness throughout the property. The pub atmosphere is lively with good pub-standard food and many guests find great value for their money.
However, this three-star hotel does show signs of its age with décor and rooms appearing a bit outdated and tired. Some guests noted noisy floorboards and a yearning for a facelift, especially in the bathrooms and general facilities. There are no lifts, so managing stairs might be challenging for some. Air conditioning is also lacking, which could be uncomfortable during warmer periods. The parking situation can be tight and the bar area might benefit from more seating.
Despite these minor grievances, the charm and character of the period property, coupled with helpful service and a cozy ambiance, lead many to consider returning. For those seeking a historical and value-for-money stay, while keeping expectations aligned with mid-range accommodations, the Royal Hotel stands as a viable option.

Inn On The Wye offers an experience that aligns with expectations for this type of accommodation. The hotel is known for its welcoming pub, reasonably priced food and drinks and a good location with ample parking. It provides a four-poster room with rustic charm and lovely views, alongside a nice breakfast.
However, guests noted that the decor is tired and in need of updating throughout. Some issues highlighted include the lack of central heating, thin walls that allowed for noise disturbances and a need for refurbishment in the rooms and bathrooms. Several reviews mentioned that the inn seemed a bit shabby and rather small. Despite these drawbacks, the rooms were described as good value for money, particularly given the relatively inexpensive rates.
Inn On The Wye is definitely not a four- or five-star establishment, nor does it meet the full expectations of a three-star inn. Nonetheless, its budget-friendly nature and basic but comfortable facilities make it a satisfactory option for those seeking affordable accommodation.
