Nestled in a serene location just off the A9, The Shandwick Inn offers a welcoming retreat for travelers seeking a restful break on their journey. The hotel, while older in appearance, remains in good shape, providing a charming and ideal setting typical of a country inn experience. Its reasonable pricing adds to the appeal, making it a suitable choice for those attending events such as weddings or simply passing through.
Guests frequently commend the variety and abundance of food offered, enhancing the overall experience. Despite some minor drawbacks, such as the need for TLC in certain areas and the occasional unpredictability of the shower, the inn consistently delivers a comfortable stay. Those opting to stay in the cottage may notice its distinct character, though it may benefit from some updates.
While the rooms can be compact with small inconveniences like a challenging window blind, The Shandwick Inn remains a lovely place to stop over, especially for those en route to enchanting destinations like Orkney. An uneven car park is a minor aspect of an otherwise pleasing environment, ensuring travelers leave satisfied and refreshed.
