Hotel New Otani Tokyo The Main is highly praised for its ideal location in central Tokyo. Guests consistently commend its serene, peaceful setting that contrasts with the bustling city, coupled with easy access to public transportation, restaurants, shops and landmarks. The pristine Japanese garden within the property provides a tranquil escape, enhancing the overall ambiance.
The breakfast experience at the hotel is noted for its high quality and varied offerings, including a buffet praised for its extensive selection and spectacular views. Guests appreciate the availability of breakfast at no additional cost at various on-site restaurants. However, some feel the buffet is costly and peak times can result in long waits.
When it comes to dining, the hotel stands out with an impressive array of restaurant options, delivering top-quality cuisine in elegant settings, some with beautiful garden views. The Sky Bar is particularly recommended for its luxurious atmosphere. However, the high dining costs and early closing times of certain restaurants are points of contention.
The spacious, comfortable rooms are another strong point, featuring modern amenities and impressive views of the gardens and skyline, including glimpses of Mt. Fuji on clear days. The cleanliness and quietness of the rooms contribute to a restful stay, although a few guests suggest that some rooms could use updates to match the hotel’s luxury standards.
Cleanliness is a highlight with meticulous room maintenance and immaculate public spaces. The well-maintained Japanese garden further adds to the hotel's charm. A minor criticism relates to occasional oversights in room cleaning, but these are rare.
The hotel's staff is often described as friendly, helpful and highly professional. Guests particularly appreciate the concierge service, which enhances their overall experience. There are occasional notes about inconsistency in hospitality, but these do not significantly detract from the positive perception of the staff.
The pool, although large and enjoyable, receives mixed reviews due to its seasonal availability, restricted operating hours and additional costs. Many guests feel complimentary access would significantly enhance their experience.
The bedding also garners mixed feedback with many praising the comfort and spaciousness of the beds, while some find them too firm for their liking. Despite this, the overall room comfort and ample space are well-regarded.
There is mixed feedback about the hotel’s five-star status. Some guests feel it exceeds expectations, while others believe it resembles a dated four-star property with five-star pricing. Navigation within the large hotel can be challenging and updating the decor could better justify its cost.
As a luxury hotel, Hotel New Otani Tokyo The Main generally meets high standards. The elegant ambiance, excellent service and exquisite Japanese gardens contribute to a luxurious and memorable stay, despite some guests noting areas for improvement. Overall, it remains a top choice for those seeking comfort, quality and an exceptional retreat in Tokyo.
