Former Monastery HotelHornbach Monastery was established in 742 by St. Pirminius as a Benedictine monastery. The gentle hill landscape of the southwest Palatinate corresponded with the monks' ideal place of sanctuary for self-reflection. Hornbach marks the end point of the Palatine Way of St. James and offers hikers and bikers diversfied routes to explore the beautiful nature.
In the centuries to follow the monastery experienced a moving history: from the blossoming of a small monastery to its nearly complete dereliction. After several years of restoration and renovation, the former monastery ruin was ready to be opened as a hotel in May 2000.
