Bastion Hotel Groningen provides a strategic yet peaceful location, ideal for travelers prioritizing convenience over proximity to the city center. It's easily accessible by car and public transport, situated near the A7 highway with ample parking available. Though it's set in an industrial area, this setting ensures a quiet environment away from city noise.
Guests often enjoy the breakfast, which is praised for its variety and freshness, offering a delicious start to the day. However, some find the breakfast prices high and the options sometimes limited. The dinner experience receives a similarly mixed response, appreciated for the friendly staff and tasty meals, but critiqued for limited menu options and occasional overcooking.
The rooms are considered spacious, clean and comfortable with modern bathrooms and amenities like air conditioning. Despite their overall cleanliness and quiet atmosphere, some rooms could benefit from updates and better upkeep. Recurring issues include outdated decor, musty smells and occasional cleaning lapses.
Cleanliness throughout the hotel garners mixed reviews with many appreciating the tidy rooms and friendly staff. However, some areas such as hallways and elevators need more maintenance, as do communal areas like the lobby and bar.
The staff at Bastion Hotel Groningen is consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Despite occasional staff shortages or inefficiencies, the overall guest experience is enhanced by their attentive service.
Free WiFi is appreciated but can be inconsistent, occasionally suffering from slow speeds or frequent disconnections. The parking facilities are a standout feature, providing ample free parking options conveniently located near the hotel entrance.
Beds at the hotel receive mostly positive feedback for their comfort and cleanliness, though some guests find them too soft or narrow for their liking. Addressing concerns related to bed firmness could further improve guest comfort.
Overall, Bastion Hotel Groningen offers a practical and functional stay with decent amenities and friendly service. Its location, practical facilities and reasonable price-quality ratio make it a solid choice for business travelers or those looking for a short-term, straightforward accommodation option.
