Holiday Inn - the niu, Timber Esslingen by IHG, receives high praise for its strategic location. The hotel is conveniently situated near public transportation, making access to Stuttgart's city center and nearby attractions like the Stuttgart trade fair easily manageable. It is also in walking distance to Esslingen's picturesque old town. Guests appreciate the tranquil residential area, complemented by essential amenities such as a nearby Lidl supermarket. While some mention the industrial setting and occasional road and railway noise, the hotel's peacefulness and accessibility are well-regarded.
The breakfast at the hotel is celebrated for its delicious, diverse and extensive selection, featuring unique items like ginger shots and gluten-free options. The modern and pleasant breakfast room contributes to an enjoyable dining experience, though it can become crowded during peak hours. While some guests consider the breakfast price to be on the higher side, the quality and variety generally leave a positive impression.
Dinner options at the hotel have mixed reviews. Although the bar offers some dining facilities and serves until late, guests often find the overall food selection limited and seek better dining experiences outside the hotel. Despite the lack of a dedicated dinner service, the nearby restaurants provide alternatives, although limited opening hours can pose a challenge on certain days.
The rooms are modern, stylish and well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable and quiet stay. Despite being on the smaller side, they are well-designed, clean and equipped with amenities, including air conditioning and large mirrors. The beds are particularly noted for their comfort. Although storage space may be limited and certain amenities like a refrigerator or a desk might be missing, the overall room quality receives commendations.
Cleanliness is generally a strong point for the hotel with many guests describing the environment as spotless and modern. While there are occasional lapses, these are exceptions rather than the rule. The staff is largely praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, there are reports of the staff sometimes being overwhelmed during busy periods, indicating a need for better management and training.
The hotel’s Wi-Fi service garners mixed feedback. While many guests find the connection stable and fast, especially appreciated for its free availability, others report issues, particularly with iOS compatibility and occasional connectivity problems.
Parking is another point of contention with some guests appreciating the secure and convenient on-site parking, while others find the spaces insufficient and the fees high. During busy periods, finding a parking spot can be challenging.
Families find the hotel particularly accommodating with child-focused amenities such as high chairs, baby cots and play areas. The hotel's effort to ensure family comfort is evident, though room sizes might feel cramped for larger families. The welcoming environment and child-friendly services make it an appealing option for families.
Overall, Holiday Inn - the niu, Timber Esslingen by IHG is well-regarded for its strategic location, comfortable and clean rooms and family-friendly amenities. Some areas like dinner options, Wi-Fi connectivity and parking present opportunities for improvement, but the positive aspects make it a practical choice for both business and leisure travelers.
