What is the history of the property? The Manor House was built in two different times.
The east part was built in the XVIII Century.
Guests are invited to observe materials and furniture from the original construction.
One hundred years later, the west part was built, namely the large living room with a fire place. In this room there is a XIX century English piano (Broadwood).
In 1896 my grand grand father bought the house to doctor Oliveira, for his own family.
From then till the present the house is the property of Teles de Menezes family.
What was the era and/or the architectural style in which the property was built? It was built in baroque style.
Also the romantic construction during XIX century maintains the baroque original style.
Is the property surrounded by other historic buildings? The village of Fataunços is proud of holding several Manor Houses from the XVIII Century
Has restoration work taken place? Yes, during 1998, the house was adapted to a "tourisme de charme"
Are there any elements of particular historical importance at the building? The house keeps original furniture and paintings, namely French and Portuguese school from XIX century as well as important sacred art sculptures.
Are there any important guests or previous owners worth mentioning? Some guests are important politicians and ministers of the third republic.
One of the ex-presidents of Saint Thomas and Prince in Africa, is a member of the family and lived in Casa de Fataunços during is studies in Viseu.
Are there any significant events that took place at the property in the past? Several piano and "lied" concertos as well as jazz music sessions have taken place during the last ten years in the auditorium and in the gardens.
