Former Castle HotelThe castle was initially built by a lord and it was surrounded by a moat and firm fortification all around it. In the 16th century, the castle was destroyed in a fire, but was soon rebuilt in the shape it had before. Many counts and barons lived in the castle over the ages, and one of them renovated it in the 19th century according to the Gothic-style of the era, a style it retains until today. During most of the 20th century, the castle was used to house miners, and after a renovation that finished in 1999 it was turned into the hotel that it is today.
