Abbazia San Pietro In Valle is a charming historic hotel that was formerly an abbey. Initially constructed in the 8th century, the abbey was partially destroyed throughout the centuries and was rebuilt again in the 10th and 11th centuries. The abbey passed through the hands of various families, until it was acquired by the Costanzi family who restored it last in 1998. Some of the cells in which monks used to reside have now been turned into lovely guestrooms. There is also a church in the hotel grounds, which still operates in the weekends.

Originally built in the 15th century as two separate buildings, St. Katherine’s and St. Cecily’s convents, the building was used as a monastery throughout the Middle Ages. Later on, it was given to the town of Amsterdam that erected another building that connected the two and used it as a town hall. In the 17th century, Napoleon's brother used it as his residence, and around 1992 it was remade into a hotel.

Initially built in 1840 as a private family house, the building came to the possession of the Anglican church in the 1870s. The Anglican nuns used to reside in it and they also built a chapel in the centre of the property. The mission of the Anglican nuns was to care for young women who were in need, and those women gave back to the convent by building a small laundry business. The building was used as a convent for about 50 years before being sold to another owner and turned into a hotel.
