Originally built in 1789, the chapel served the local community for many years and is a historical landmark of Sintra. Having gone into disrepair and overgrown for many years, it was delicately renovated and converted to guest accommodation in 2016, to bring it back to its former glory to what it is today.

The chapel is situated within a private historic estates known as ‘Quinta da Capela’ within Sintra’s Estefania district. The area is also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its outstanding beauty.
