The Hilton Albany enjoys a prime central location in Albany, attracting guests for various events and attractions. Visitors appreciate its convenience for attending concerts at MVP Arena, the Palace Theater and exploring the state's Capitol with a vibrant array of nearby restaurants and sights enhancing the travel experience. The hotel is commended for its friendly and helpful staff, bolstering praise for cleanliness and comfort despite its age. Guests also value the onsite restaurant for its well-received breakfast options, contributing to an overall positive stay.
The breakfast experience, however, receives mixed feedback. While convenient and varied items such as croissants are praised, the high cost and inconsistent quality detract from the experience for some guests. The dinner offerings also reflect a similar sentiment, being serviceable but limited with elevated prices not always matching the quality.
Room reviews are varied with positive comments focusing on spaciousness, comfort of the large beds and city views. Nevertheless, issues with cleanliness, maintenance, outdated decor and small bathroom sizes are noted by several guests, highlighting a need for improvement in these areas.
Cleanliness issues extend beyond the rooms to the hotel's general maintenance with reports of dirty common areas, peeling paint and inadequate housekeeping. Some guests found their rooms very clean and comfortable due to the hardworking staff, but overall, significant improvements in maintenance and cleaning routines are necessary.
The staff typically receive high marks for being friendly, helpful and accommodating. Notable mentions include specific staff members like Angelo for exemplary service. However, inconsistency among staff behavior with some being described as rude or uncommunicative, suggests a need for better uniformity in customer service.
Parking at the Hilton Albany is found to be convenient and well-located, but the additional cost and difficulties with accessing the garage are occasional issues. Clearer instructions and better signage could enhance guest satisfaction in this area.
Despite some negative points, the hotel's beds receive consistent praise for their comfort, providing guests with a restful night's sleep. Overall, the Hilton Albany stands out for its unbeatable location, excellent service and comfortable accommodations, though it requires attention to cleanliness and maintenance to fully meet guest expectations.
