Former Castle Hotel

The castle has been owned by the same family for 600 years, the descendants of William the Conqueror's companions. It was originally built on the ruins of an even more ancient castle. The main wings were built in the 13th and 14th centuries. A grand granite staircase greets guests as they walk in the door. It is built by the architect François Gabriel, an ancestor of Ange-Jacques Gabriel, the architect of the Palace of Versailles.
