Carton House A Fairmont Managed hotel offers a stunning, characterful building that makes for a beautiful place to stay with great service in great surroundings. While the bedrooms were spacious, the bathrooms and wardrobes could do with a refresh and some of the lounge seating wasn't comfortable. The new modern wing can be quite dark and some bathrooms, particularly the sink, weren't very functional. Complaints included TV and internet not working, tiny toiletries and old robes and towels. However, most guests found the beds to be very comfortable, making for a comfy, luxurious stay. The hotel offers pure luxury, but some guests were disappointed that the rooms' reality did not live up to the hotel's gallery pictures or the prices charged. Some bedrooms had a great view with doors opening onto the garden, but some rooms had an underwhelming outlook of a galvanised roof and a wall. Rooms could be immaculately clean and were overall nice, clean and spacious. While the shower pressure had some issues, the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Bathrobes were not available unless you were on a spa package and the toiletries and towels were minimal with no automatic daily room servicing, leading some guests to feel that the rooms underperformed.
