Everything is within walking distance, including shops and the picturesque harbor. Although the hotel is up a hill, it is manageable and affords great views. It's a perfect location for visitors who want to explore Heartbreak Hill, Saundersfoot and its surroundings. Guests love the locality of the hotel as it provides easy accessibility to buses going into Tenby. The staff are helpful with regards to bus services to Amroth. The hotel's position near all amenities is ideal. The rooms are nice and well-maintained with lovely views and guests love the value for money. For those who want to relax and enjoy the pool, this hotel also provides a pleasant ambiance. All in all, it's a lovely location with exceptional views and great value for money.

Breakfast
The breakfast at the Merlewood Hotel has received mixed reviews from guests. While some have described it as outstanding, delicious and superb, others have been disappointed with the quality and value for money. The buffet breakfast has been praised for its variety and presentation with everything one could wish for. Dietary needs, such as gluten and lactose-free options, have been catered for. However, some guests have complained about slow service and pre-ordering, while others have found the breakfast to be overpriced for what they received. Overall, it seems that the evening restaurant had nicer food than the breakfast.

Rooms
The Merlewood Hotel offers comfortable, simple rooms that are clean and well-equipped with everything you need. Some rooms may be on the smaller side or a bit dated, but overall guests are pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the accommodations. Some rooms offer lovely sea views and others have useful amenities like small tables and chairs. While some guests note issues like stuffy air or hard beds, many find the rooms to be satisfactory and functional for their needs. The hotel itself is described as lovely and spotless both inside and out and while there is no option for an evening meal, guests appreciate the easy check-in process and the value for the price.

Beds
When it comes to sleeping arrangements, the reviews on the beds at Merlewood Hotel are mixed. Some guests describe the bed as "very comfortable" and "comfy", while others have called them "horrendous" and "really uncomfortable". Unfortunately, a number of guests commented on the mattresses being too hard or the pillows being rock hard. Some complained of noise in the rooms as well. Those that did enjoy their stay highlighted the immaculate bedding. It's worth noting that some guests were given new mattresses but this didn't necessarily alleviate all discomfort. If a good night's sleep is high on your priorities list, it may be worth enquiring about the mattresses and bedding in advance.

It's just a short 10-minute stroll to the sea front and the selection of restaurants and shops. Although the views are beautiful, some guests have noted that the hotel is up a steep hill.
