Location
Haughton Hall is a beautiful hotel situated in a lovely countryside setting. The location is excellent as it is only a 5-minute drive from the motorway and bars and restaurants. Additionally, it is very quiet and peaceful as it is set back off the main road. The hotel offers a great location for those looking to sightsee or attend functions. Guests have praised the staff, the free-standing bath and the surrounding park area. The only slight downside is that the road leading up to the main building could be smoother. Overall, it is a great location with fantastic facilities, including a pool and leisure center.

Breakfast
Guests at Haughton Hall have mixed reviews about the hotel's breakfast offerings. Some guests praised the nice selection of food, excellent breakfast room and well-cooked breakfast made to order without long waits. Others mentioned that the sliced bread was too thin for toast or that there were limited options for continental breakfast. Additionally, some guests experienced issues such as orange cordial instead of orange juice, empty dishes, or limited servings. However, many guests still rated the breakfast as good or excellent, especially those who enjoyed the full English breakfast. Overall, guests appreciated friendly and attentive breakfast staff, though some wished for earlier breakfast hours or more generous food servings. The hotel also received positive reviews for its dinner offerings.

Dinner
According to guest reviews of Haughton Hall, the hotel's dinner options were varied. Some guests reported that the food was not great, while others praised the quality of both the breakfast and evening meals. However, there were reports of long waits and burnt food items. The menu was also described as being limited by some guests. Some customers quipped that asking for any special requests was not welcome, making it difficult to make changes to their meal i.e. chips for vegetables. Despite some negative comments, others reported excellent dinner and breakfast meals, highlighting that the second night's dinner was much better than the first night. Some guests also complimented the gluten-free options for their child. It seems that breakfast was often reported as better than dinner with shorter wait times despite the occasional mix-up with reservations. Ultimately, whether the meal was satisfactory or not seemed to differ based on the individual dining experience.

Rooms
If you're looking for a hotel with spacious rooms, Haughton Hall might just fit the bill with big bedrooms and fantastic sizes available. However, while some guests found their room lovely with beautiful features and vintage decor, many others had complaints. Some rooms were very cold and took ages to warm up and there was a lack of heating in some of the bathrooms. Guests also reported tired and dated decor with old furniture and stained carpets and some even found their room to be disgustingly dirty. The hotel's condition was described as neglected and in need of maintenance. While some rooms were clean and comfortable with everything guests needed, others had issues with broken showers or doors that wouldn't shut properly. But the hotel wasn't all bad with lovely grounds and a great pool to enjoy. Overall, the rooms at Haughton Hall seem to be a mixed bag with some guests enjoying their stay and others feeling like the hotel was very outdated and needed to be fully refurbished.

Beds
Haughton Hall is a hotel that has a mixed bag of reviews when it comes to their beds, as some guests found them to be comfortable while others found them to be very uncomfortable and old. However, there were a few very positive comments from some guests who enjoyed exceptionally comfortable beds that were clean and comfy. Unfortunately, some guests found issues with the pillows being old and hard and some rooms lacked blankets or extra quilts. Despite this, some guests had a great experience and enjoyed the room, including those given the bridal suite or the room with two double beds. In summary, while some guests found issues with the beds of Haughton Hall, others had a great night's sleep and found the room, in general, to be comfortable and nice.

Cleanliness
Some guests felt that Haughton Hall could use some improvements in terms of cleanliness. Cobwebs were spotted in both the restaurant and some of the bedrooms and some of the surfaces were dusty. Some guests reported dirty windows and bathrooms and outdated or worn out decor. However, other guests found the rooms to be clean with spotless bedding and towels and clean swimming and leisure facilities. Overall, it seems that Haughton Hall could benefit from more thorough cleaning and updating in certain areas, but some guests still found the hotel to be clean and comfortable.

Staff
Haughton Hall has a range of staff with the majority of guests commenting on their friendly and professional nature. Some guests noted they were understaffed, however, the existing team were accommodating and hardworking. Some guests experienced a lack of staff at times, but when present, they were attentive and polite. The Scottish assistant was a particular highlight, being described as brilliant and hilarious. Breakfast and restaurant staff were praised for being helpful and friendly, but some guests experienced poor service and rude responses from certain members of staff. Despite this, the staff were generally regarded as the greatest asset of the hotel.

Spa
Guests have had mixed experiences with the spa at Haughton Hall. While some enjoyed their spa treatments and found the facilities clean and well-maintained, others felt that the spa needed a revamp and was outdated. Some also found the spa to be too crowded, especially with children using the pool. Despite some negative comments about the spa and its locker system, the leisure facilities as a whole were praised and some guests enjoyed using the pool, sauna and steam room. However, one guest was disappointed to learn that the health suite would be closing soon and felt that it was outdated, dirty and cold. Overall, while the spa may require some modernization, guests found the leisure facilities to be enjoyable and some even chose to stay at the hotel for their anniversary, as it offered a perfect place to relax.

Pool
Haughton Hall boasts a swimming pool and leisure facilities, including a sauna and steam room. However, some guests had negative experiences, such as the pool being closed without prior notice or being too warm/hot to swim comfortably. Some guests found the pool area in need of refurbishment and complained about the lack of outdoor seating. Despite this, others still enjoyed the pool and sauna area, describing it as clean and quiet and the best part of the hotel. Some guests did have issues with the cleanliness of the leisure facilities, stating that they were dirty, moldy and outdated. It's also worth noting that some guests were required to rent towels for the swimming pool. While some guests praised the pool for being large enough to do proper lengths, others found it crowded and uncomfortable, especially when children were present. Overall, the reviews regarding the pool at Haughton Hall were mixed - some found it to be enjoyable, while others found it lacking.

3 Star
Haughton Hall is an 18th century building that still retains many of its original features, but unfortunately its general condition is in dire need of an update. While the hotel has potential, guests have reported that it is a tired property that lacks care and attention, making the facilities depressing and disappointing. The rooms are dated and in need of a good clean with some guests even noting a smell upon arrival. The service has also been reported as not good with dirty tables and barely sufficient amenities. Overall, if you are looking for a hotel to stay in, we suggest considering alternatives until Haughton Hall undergoes a massive remodel to match its potential.
