Throughout the decades, it was renovated and even altered but the basic design is still maintained. Originally constructed by the Dutch architect, Anthony De Witt, who came to South Africa in 1879. The Australian architect, William Black, undertook extensions around 1900s. In 1920s, the veranda was re-constructed on four sets of concrete pillars during the rebuilding. It's initial name was Hotel Metropole, opened in 1895. The newspaper report mentioned in 1895 that it was "one of the landmarks of the city … five storeys high. It is of a very imposing and grand appearance, being designed in the old German Renaissance style."

If you are planning a trip to Cape Town, Long Street Boutique Hotel is the perfect choice for you. Located in the heart of the city's entertainment precinct, the hotel offers easy access to great restaurants, bars and nightlife, as well as many of the city's top attractions. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable with excellent showers and fabulous bathrooms. Guests highly praised the friendly staff and their excellent service with special mentions for Chido and Fiona. The hotel offers a great sleep experience with its comfortable and big beds. While some guests noted that the neighborhood can be noisy at night, the hotel has made a huge effort to cancel out the noise, making for an extremely comfortable stay. Breakfast is not included in the room rate, but the hotel's central location places it near the popular Lola's restaurant, which offers a great place to start your day.
