Hotel Windsor has accommodated many guests over the decades and some of them were so satisfied by the service that they never left. One of the most characteristic examples is that of Dame Nellie Melba, an Australian soprano, whose singing can still be heard echoing in the hotel's corridors. Built in 1832 to quarantine early immigrants afflicted by disease, the station was a place of horror for many and is said to be one of Australia’s most haunted places. Close to 600 inhabitants died there from scarlet fever, smallpox, typhoid, cholera or Spanish influenza. The area is popular among people hoping to witness paranormal activities and hear ghost stories as they wander through the former hospital, the morgue and the doctors and nurses' quarters, as there are ghost tours organised by the staff of Q Station themselves. The haunted part of the hotel where those tours take place, though, is in a separate location from the guest accommodation premises, so there is no need to worry if meeting a ghost isn't really part of your itinerary.

Port Arthur is considered to be one of the most haunted places in Australia. Encountering ghostly apparitions or strange occurrences in Port Arthur Motor Inn should come as no surprise to any potential guest. In fact, testimonies of lights turning on and off and weird noises coming out of nowhere have been made by many guests.

Apart from old-fashioned accommodation and hospitality, this hotel also has a ghost story to share. Rumour has it that the ghost of a 23-year-old woman haunts the hotel's pub, but as guests have stated, she appears to be friendly and not malevolent like most ghosts.
