The Langham London hotel is famous not only for its luxurious accommodation but also for its ghost "residents". Guests claim to have seen a man in Victorian wear in the room 333, as well as another one wearing military uniform that is believed to be the ghost of a German prince who committed suicide in the hotel just before WWI started. Also, the ghost of Napoleon the 3rd is believed to be haunting the basement.

Isobella Shaw was married to Lord Shaw and were living in the castle. After she gave birth to her son he locked her inside a room and while she tried to escape through a window, she fell and died. Rumour has it that her ghost wanders in the castle looking for her son. Also, this 4-star Castle Hotel has a Ghost Room and very atmospheric dungeon.

Dalhousie Castle does not only boast a centuries-long history but also a rather spooky past. The property is said to be inhabited by many different ghosts, the most well-known one being that of Sir Alexander Ramsay. According to the story, in 1342, he was starved to death and he is left wandering around ever since. Another famous ghost is that of Lady Catherine or the Grey Lady, who haunts the castle's dungeon.

Oxford Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1071 and was later turned into a Victorian prison before becoming the luxury boutique hotel that it is today, and it is believed to be one of the most haunted buildings in the United Kingdom. Mary Blandy was hanged at this castle in 1752 after poisoning her father with arsenic and her spirit is said to still wander around its premises. During the Victorian period when it served as a prison, the castle housed some of Britain's most notorious criminals and the barred windows and dungeons are just some of the reminders. Guests have reported seeing ghosts of prisoners, white-robed monks, as well as a mysterious white mist and spooky footsteps.

Ettington Park Hotel, housed in an impressive neo-Gothic mansion, used to be a Roman villa during antiquity, a nursing home during the 1930s and many more before it got destroyed in a fire in 1979 and completely renovated to become the hotel it is today. The ghost of Lady Emma, a former governess, is a regular visitor and is often seen wearing a long white dress before she disappears in the walls. Other ghosts include a monk and two young boys who drowned in the nearby river in the 1800s.

The Ragged Cot Inn is around since the 17th century and carries a rather gruesome history. In 1760, the drunken landlord wanted to rob a passing coach. When his wife, holding their baby in her arms, tried to stop him, she fell from the stairs and both she and the baby met their tragic end. The landlord put their bodies in a trunk and they say that when the police came to arrest him, he saw the ghosts of his wife and their baby ascending the stairs like always. Their ghosts have remained on the premises ever since.

Claimed to be one of England's most haunted inns, Jamaica Inn certainly lives up to the expectations. Located in the bleak and eerie Bodmin Moor, the inn used to be a famous smuggling and pirate spot. Guests have reported hearing horses' hooves on the cobblestone paths late at night as well as strange whispering voices. This is where Daphne DuMaurier, the famous author, wrote and based her novel named "Jamaica Inn", a story about the Cornish smugglers and pirates, and as it seems her tale wasn't mere fiction after all...

Talbot Hotel has an oak staircase that was part of Fotheringay Castle until the 1600s. Mary Queen of Scots was tried and beheaded in that castle. Mary was supposed to have walked down that staircase to her execution, and left a mark on the staircase's wood from her ring. Guests report that her spirit walks down that staircase and her portrait is moving from the wall.

The historic Holt Hotel carries a rather gruesome history, since its then owners were murdered in 1754 by Claude Duval. Today, many guests have reported seeing the ghost of the highwayman Claude Duval wandering around the premises. Duval was the leader of a notorious gang of highwaymen and was responsible for many murders. Some guests have also said that they heard heavy footsteps in the corridors or felt like they were being watched in their rooms. One guest in particular said he felt his bed vibrate fiercely, while the landlord has also heard voices coming from the attic.

This 700-year-old mansion is steeped not only in history but also in tragedy. Lucette, a French governess had her heart broken by an army officer and in her despair she drowned herself in the river. This 12th-century former monastery has a long history full of deaths and hauntings. Abbot Geoffrey is said to have been murdered here in 1345 and his ghost, that of a hooded monk, has frequently been sighted wandering around the premises. If you hear footsteps on the cobblestone path near the stables, that is the ghost of Matilda, a gypsy girl who became pregnant by the former master of the house, who refused to take responsibility for his actions. The baby was born dead and Matilda's fury was so immense that she placed a curse on the house and her spirit still wanders around it, unable to find peace.
