Historic Hotel

The hotel's history began in 1815. Queen Victoria's uncle, William IV, met his wife in the hotel in 1818. In 1814, Louis XVIII of France stayed here on his way to Paris. A century later, President General Charles de Gaulle frequented in the hotel. By the end of the 19th century, the Duke of Westminster redeveloped the area. In 1898, an iron and glass shelter was raised on the front entrance. It served as a refuge for the exiled in the Nazi's march across Europe.

Visitors can check out the Russell Cotes museum next door to learn more about the hotel's history. While some guests believe the hotel could do with a bit of a makeover, it is still a lovely old building that is worth a visit. Despite its age, the pricing is good value for money, though some amenities may not be up to modern standards. All in all, the Royal Bath Hotel & Spa Bournemouth is a marvellous hotel that is well worth a stay if you appreciate a piece of history.
