The history of this building began in 1840 when it was first constructed in order to be a private family home. However, during the 1870s, the building came to be owned by the Anglican church and was turned into a convent where nuns and young women in need were residing. Its life as a convent lasted for only 50 years, as it was purchased by a family in the 1950s and turned into "The Milton Hotel". The hotel changed hands one more time until it was bought by its current owners in 1976 and was turned into the hotel that it is today.
