Summary of reviews
Summarized by AI
La Tour Des Lys in Mairieux emerges as a commendable option for visitors seeking a serene and quiet environment close to Maubeuge and the Belgian border. The hotel's strategic location allows easy access to local events while providing a peaceful respite from busier areas, despite occasional traffic noise from the nearby N2.
Guests frequently applaud the hotel's breakfast for its variety and quality, offering a delicious and substantial start to the day with personalized service being a notable highlight. Though there are some critiques regarding the freshness and variety of certain items, the overall dining experience, particularly in the evenings, garners substantial praise. The dinners are recognized for superb value and quality with meals described as rich and delicious and the ambiance enhanced by the friendly chef and staff.
The rooms at La Tour Des Lys are another significant point of praise with guests often impressed by their spaciousness and comfort. The hotel's focus on maintaining clean and tidy accommodations also bolsters its appeal. However, some issues have been noted, including inadequate lighting, poor ventilation and occasional maintenance problems. Despite these setbacks, the warm and welcoming reception from the staff, known for their friendliness and helpfulness, significantly enhances the overall guest experience.
The cleanliness of the hotel generally meets satisfactory standards, though a few areas could benefit from more thorough attention. Strong praise is also given to the comfortable bedding, contributing to a restful sleep for many, although rare instances of deformed or uncomfortable mattresses have been mentioned.
In summary, La Tour Des Lys is appreciated for its sizeable rooms, excellent dining and friendly staff. While it has some areas that could improve, its overall offering provides a comfortable and welcoming stay for guests.
