The building in which Hydrea Exclusive Hospitality is housed today was initially built in 1803 as a mansion house. It used to be the private residence of the Frangiscos Voulgaris family and it has played a significant role in shaping the history of the island as well as of the entire country. Due to its strategic location right in front of the port, the mansion was used as a bay during the Turkish rule, while the famous rebellion against Kapodistrias in 1831 was signed in this very building. Renovated and restored, the mansion has been turned into a hotel since 2010.

Initially built in 1796 by a Russian noble who was dispatched to Greece to aid in the fighting against the Turks at the time, Orloff House was named after the very first attempt at a revolution in 1770, also known as "Orloffika". At the beginning of the 20th century, the house was owned by the Kladakis family, until it was turned into the boutique hotel it is today in 1986. Many renovations took place before its opening as a hotel, but the initial atmosphere and structure were kept as close to the original as possible.
