The Dorint MARC AUREL Spa & Golf Resort offers several facilities and services that make it perfect for a relaxing vacation. Although some guests commented that the rooms need renovating and the breakfast selection could be better for a four-star hotel, the salad bar and breakfast were deemed suitable for the level of service. However, some guests felt that the other meals did not meet the standard expected of a four-star hotel. Despite this, the general opinion was that the hotel is impressive with Roman-themed decor that some see as a little outdated and personnel who are very accommodating. Overall, it's a perfect spot for golf enthusiasts due to the nearby golf course and the serene surroundings make for a quiet and peaceful retreat.

Many guests of The Monarch Hotel express disappointment in its four-star rating, indicating that its facilities and services fall short of their expectations. A common sentiment is that the hotel’s furnishings appear outdated and worn. The overall state of the rooms, coupled with the service provided and handling of criticism, has been highlighted as particularly lacking for a four-star establishment.
Comparisons to newly built four-star hotels draw attention to a perceived gap in the price-performance ratio. The absence of certain amenities, such as champagne and salmon at breakfast, glassware or even luggage carts in a spacious hotel with malfunctioning elevators, detracts from the comfort and convenience expected. The breakfast buffet has been noted to lack variety, further diminishing the four-star experience.
Despite boasting three restaurants, guests reported difficulties securing reservations, which diminishes the overall impression of service quality. For those seeking a three-star experience, especially with the added appeal of great pools, the hotel might still be a suitable choice. However, the overall consensus leans towards The Monarch Hotel not living up to the expectations of a four-star rating.
