The ghost of a police officer that was found dead close to the hotel is said to be haunting Historic Anchorage Hotel. The officer, named John J "Black Jack" Sturgus was shot in the back with his own gun and is rumored to be returning to the hotel, looking for justice to an unsolved crime, every year.
