Hotel Gran Jimenoa, located in the serene heart of the Dominican Republic near the Jimenoa River, is highly praised for its picturesque setting and exceptional ambiance. Its proximity to various natural attractions and the charming town of Jarabacoa makes it a perfect base for both a tranquil escape and adventurous explorations. Guests are consistently impressed by the lush greenery, tropical gardens and the soothing sounds of the river, which enhance the overall experience. Dining by the river adds a unique charm to the meals, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere.
The breakfast at Hotel Gran Jimenoa is frequently highlighted as a noteworthy part of the stay. Guests appreciate the variety, quality and deliciousness of the options available, including fresh juices and Creole-influenced dishes. The picturesque river view during breakfast enhances the dining experience with friendly and attentive staff further elevating guests' satisfaction.
Dinner experiences are largely positive with many guests praising the quality and taste of the meals, particularly the well-prepared stewed goat and pork in chinola sauce. The scenic river view from the restaurant, along with the professional and accommodating staff, contributes to an enjoyable dining atmosphere. While some guests noted concerns about the menu's variety and occasional minor issues, the overall consensus remains favorable.
The rooms at Hotel Gran Jimenoa receive mixed reviews. Guests enjoy the spaciousness, comfort and scenic views of the river, pool and mountains from their rooms. However, there are frequent mentions of outdated decor, maintenance issues and a need for renovation. Cleanliness is generally commendable, but specific areas such as bathrooms and common spaces could benefit from better upkeep.
While the staff at Hotel Gran Jimenoa are often lauded for their friendliness, attentiveness and excellent service, particularly at breakfast and in the restaurant, there are isolated instances where guests felt customer service could be improved. However, the general sentiment is that the staff significantly enhance the overall guest experience.
The hotel's internet service is basic and often unreliable with connectivity mainly available in the lobby area, which may pose challenges for guests requiring consistent access.
The spa at Hotel Gran Jimenoa is well-received with many guests enjoying memorable massages. Some maintenance issues, such as lukewarm hot tubs and cleanliness in jacuzzis, are noted, but overall, the spa is considered a pleasant addition to the hotel experience.
The pool areas are aesthetically pleasing and well-received, though there are some concerns about cleanliness and water temperature. Guests appreciate the beautiful layout and the availability of jacuzzis and a pool table, which add to the recreational options.
Hotel Gran Jimenoa is particularly recommended for families. The hotel’s clean and picturesque outdoor areas, child-friendly playgrounds and overall comfortable environment make it an ideal choice for family visits. The beds in the rooms receive mixed feedback; while generally comfortable, some guests find them too small or less than ideal for taller individuals.
