Hotel Taking Steps Towards SustainabilityCarlota is the first LEED Certified hotel in Ecuador and the country's first certified B Corporation hotel. During its renovation of a 1905 historic building, 90% of the original structure was recovered, and new furniture was crafted from reclaimed wood. The hotel's sustainability initiatives include an onsite solar energy system that generates 10% of its total energy, sourcing food from local organic producers, composting food waste, and eliminating packaged snacks by using only glass bottles. It also uses energy-efficient systems and eco-friendly cleaning products.
