Historic Bed & Breakfast Questionnaire
Year erected: 1755
What is the history of the property?
Unfortunately local archives cannot supply sufficient information about original owners but we know that at some stage the chateau was a summer residence of one of Napoleon's generals.

Given the architecture and the location of the house we think it was rather a bourgeois house than an aristocratic residence. Although the presence of the tympanum on the facade and the lack of internal decoration (usually a coat of arms / family insignia) may indicate the removal of aristocratic emblems during the Great Revolution.
What was the era and/or the architectural style in which the property was built?
Louis XV
Is the property surrounded by other historic buildings?
There are further historical buildings on site like stables, dovecote or the Orangery. The property is situated 14 km from a historical town of Pezenas (most buildings date back to the 16th century) well known of Molier.
Has restoration work taken place?
Yes. We started the renovation works in 2014 and conducting it in several stages (converting all existing buildings into accommodation, SPA and wine tasting room) we terminated in 2018.
Are there any elements of particular historical importance at the building?
We managed to restore a couple of mosaic floors, one of the guest rooms suites has a stucco decorated ceiling, we preserved 19th century troughs which are exposed in one of the gîtes, several rooms have oryginal fire places. In our kitchen we discovered a 16th century bread oven. The property is full of antique furniture and garden statues/fountains.
Are there any important guests or previous owners worth mentioning?
In terms of our guests we try to keep their privacy and do not announce to the world whom we host, sorry. In terms of previous owners, as mentioned before, the house used to be a summer residence of one of Napoleon's generals.
Are there any significant events that took place at the property in the past?
Outside of many weddings (each one is significant to that couple :) we participated in the 1st in France festival "Nuits au Chateaux" in 2019.
Would you describe your property as (or has it ever been in the past) a:
Mansion
Is there anything that you would like to highlight, add or clarify?
The property is surrounded by a 200 years of park of 2,ha and 25ha of our own vineyards. Vines had been cultivated in the area for centuries and must have always been an integral part of the chateau's life.
